Benta Tavak

Benta Tavak lies near Százhalombatta and, by the fishery's own site, holds seven lakes. The channel fishes the VIP lake, where all three videos so far were shot: a family session in spring, a season-opening winter trip, and a summer session with the cabin on the VIP lake rented.

The main lesson here is that you do not need range. The fish come in front of the platform: five to six metres and eight metres both produced, flicked out underarm, and a halibut pellet bed laid just off the platform started working quickly. There is one condition — stay quiet on the platform. You can also fish towards the reeds on the far bank, dropping ten to fifteen metres short of them.

There are sturgeon in the lake, and they usually find the close-in bait first: the opening fish of one session was a sturgeon over five kilos. Returning one from a platform is not a simple job.

Carp run typically between four and seven kilos, though mirrors around ten kilos turn up, and the video passes on that a twenty is said to be in there. A thirty-six hour session ended with fifty fish landed, so this water is about numbers of bites rather than single big fish.

One rule matters: a monofilament hooklink is compulsory at Benta.

Fish came to Monkey pellet and groundbait, a C2 boilie, BCN larvae, artificial corn and a micro-pellet mix, on method and feeder rigs.
